At the Waldorf School of Bend, education is a powerful vehicle for social change. We are an AWSNA Associate school, who is experiencing energetic and healthy growth in beautiful Bend, Oregon. As a WECAN Developing member school, we operate an Early Childhood Program (Pre-K & Kindergarten classes) serving children ages 3-6, a stand-alone Grades program (1st – 6th) and blended Jr. High program (7th & 8th). We are unique in that we operate a Jr. High to help students prepare for high school outside of Waldorf as currently there are no Waldorf high school options in Central Oregon.

New – Part-time Spanish Teacher: The Waldorf School of Bend is seeking a part-time Spanish teacher for grades Pre-K through 8th. Previous experience teaching Spanish is required and experience with Waldorf curriculum and/or Waldorf teaching is highly preferred. A native speaker is desired. The position will involve teaching Pre-K-4th grades twice a week and 5th-8th grades 3 times a week. A curriculum and lesson plans are available for use should the candidate desire. The compensation for the position will include teaching hours and some paid prep time for a total of approximately 20 hours a week. Our language programs are designed to emphasize culture, singing, games and stories to the younger grades and with the older grades to expand into reading, writing and speaking the language. An ideal candidate would embody a loving, creative, and even-tempered demeanor, exhibit a love for and strong knowledge of the language and associated cultures, and have the flexibility to be able to work with varied age groups.

Part-time Woodwork Teacher: The Waldorf School of Bend is seeking to employ an inspired individual who loves working with children in grades 5-8 teaching various aspects of the Waldorf woodwork curricula. Ideally, we would prefer our prospective teachers to have Waldorf training. However, candidates with experience in working with the Waldorf curricula in general, manual or hand-focused woodworking as well as a passion for teaching are encouraged to apply. Woodwork classes are typically 55 minutes long and are offered throughout the week, projected to be a total of 8-10 hours per week including class preparation time.

We are a growing school located in the beautiful high desert town of Bend, OR where recreational opportunities are abundant.  From skiing, snowshoeing, and fat biking in the winter, to hiking, climbing, whitewater, mountain biking, cycling, and trail running nearly year round.  Central Oregon receives plenty of snow in the winter and ample sunshine throughout the year.
